I'm sure that many of our readers will have noticed that over the past 10 years, the number of cars on the road has incresed beyond all expectations. So the question is what can be done about the gradually building congestion.
We can all see that the government is desperately trying to push people onto a failing and inadequate public transport system. The simple fact is that for the average person to ditch their car, they need a viable alertnative that isn't going to cost twice as much as driving.
One of the simplest ways we can all reduce congestion to car pool. Not only does this method of transport reduce the amount of cars and pollution on the road, it also saves you money. Why not take it in turns to be the driver for a week with a colleague who lives nearby and see how much money you can save week on week.
In our opinion, it would be nice to see the government try to introduce incentives to car pool. Perhaps reduced road tax or a small subsidy to tempt people into pooling.
At the end of the day the government can only do so much and perhaps it's time that we all start taking a little bit of responsibility for our roads.
