Women car insurers, if you like both fast cars AND Katie Melua, then you're in for a treat. Either/or, and you'll be partially entertained. Where? Marginally interested women's car insurers ask; followed by the predictable when's? whys? what's? and 'Is this the women's car insurance channel?' that I've come to expect from the impatient/confused amongst you. At the tail end of the Grand Prix Masters of Great Britain on Sunday, the 31 st august, Miss Melua will tame her hair long enough to perform as the headline act. And, musically-ignorant women's car insurers, she's Britain 's biggest selling female artist. Not sure if you knew that previously, but it's something that may well help you in a pub quiz this week. Silverstone is the venue for her caterwauling, where she'll take to a big stage with many other, equally as famous names from the world of music; where they'll perform in front of thousands of (women's car insuring) fans.
Katie is currently in the midst of touring the United States of America to promote her latest Long Player - 'Piece By Piece' - and its this that she's graciously taken time out from to entertain us next month. And to sock it to the boys out there who are about now thinking to themselves 'And what does she know about cars?' Katie had her answer. "I'm a bit of a thrill-seeker" she said, something that yes, would make the boys sit up and take note, but not necessarily confirming her automotive knowledge one way or another. Until she finished her sentence. "And I do love speed. The thought of being at the Grand Prix Masters at Silverstone, and being part of a huge crowd watching some of the greatest racing drivers in the history of Formula One, is really exciting." Way to go girlfriend!
Eager to garner just how much she's looking forward to such a male-orientated event, we enquired about the tip-off that we'd heard a rumour that Miss Melua would be going for a 200mph spin around the legendary track with the most famous moustache in motor sport. Only he hasn't got it anymore. Still, would a proposition like this excite young Katie? You better believe it! "Bring it on! I can't wait. Will I be scared? I hope not. I'm sure I won't be. I've been driven around a circuit in a Jaguar by a professional instructor at 145 mph and loved every second of it, although I really felt the g-forces on my neck." She gabbled ten to the dozen. "I guess being driven by Nigel will be a step up from that to say the least, while giving me a unique insight into what happens inside the cockpit of a 600 brake horse power Grand Prix car." I guess you're right. And then Katie, you can return the favour, by singing songs to him. And the other thousands in the audience. Find it increasingly difficult shutting the pop damsel up, short of punching her in the vocally exquisite mouth, Melua continued; "It's the first time I've done anything like a Grand Prix before. I can't tell you how excited I am (oh I don't know, you seem to be doing a good job!) to be able to go and watch the racing, and then go and perform in front of the fans. It's just about the perfect day for me." Is that it? Anything else you'd like to add Kate? I'm sure there's something else you can say on the matter..mind, this women's car insurer can talk. And we do. Day in, day out. On women's car insurance. I suppose no-one else gets a word in edgeways with us, when we get excited about something. Namely our women's car insurance.
