You've worked hard to build up your no claims bonus and your car insurance has come down every year since. The question is, what are you doing to keep it safe? It's unfortunate, but it can be all too easy to lose your no claims bonus to thieves or careless drivers.
Some insurance companies will usually remove up to 2 years worth of no claims bonus for each accident you have, and if you've only got 3 years worth, that can be a major difference to your insurance bill the next year.
So what options are available to you?
Protected No Claims Bonus Schemes
Most womens car insurance companies offer a protected no claims bonus scheme. You are usually required to pay a small percentage on top of your premium to cover your no claims bonus.
This means that as long as you don't have more than the specified number of accidents(this varies from company to company) your no claims bonus will stay in tact and you can carry it on to next years bill.
Some companies offer protected no claims bonuses and guaranteed no claims bonus schemes. The difference appears to be that a guaranteed no claims bonus does not have a limit on the number of claims you have on your policy, while the protected scheme imposes a limit.
We would like to stress however, just because you've got a protected no claims bonus, it does not mean that you do not have to declare any claims that you have made. You are required by law to disclose all claims that you have made within the specified period.
